Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

GO GO Power Rangers!

Those who grew up in the early 90s will no doubt have watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on Saturday TV before. It was one of the most happening children shows back then. Every Monday, friends in school will definitely discuss what happened in the last episode.

That included me as well. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers runs from 1993 – 1995 for a total of 3 seasons. In these 3 seasons, there are numerous characters and mecha changes. But many fans including myself still preferred the original 5 dinozords who can gattai together to form the Megazord.

Today we will be looking at the toys which was a big hit with the kids back then.

The original Megazord. This treasure here is at least 17 years old. It was given to me by a friend and I really really love it very much. Daisuki desu! So in case said friend is reading this, special thanks to BK, ARIGATOU, SOSHITE, ARIGATOU!!!

2. Side by side with Masterpiece MP-01 Convoy aka Optimus Prime.

3. The Dino bots zords.

4. ME GRIMLOCK. ME KING! Oh wait a sec…

5. Mammoth is not a dinosaur but what do the kids know? ^^;

6. Faster than nyan cat. Catch me if you can.

7. I wish I have legs. Oh well….

8. I can fly, even with tiny wings.

9. In tank mode.

10. In 2009, Bandai released an updated version of the Dino Megazord, above. Smaller size and with more slender legs. Comparison shot below.

12. Chogokin ver. coming soon as well. Not transformable in case you are not familiar with the Chogokin line.

13. Godzillazord Dragonzord. The Green Ranger summons this mighty machine using his Pokemon flute and put the baddies to sleep waste.

14. Despite all these years, the blinking lights still works, with new batteries of course.

15. The Dragonzord had the ability to combine with the entire original Megazord to form the Mega-Dragonzord.

16. The Dragonzord could combine with the Mastodon, Triceratops, and Saber-Toothed Tiger Dinozords to create the Dragonzord in Battle Mode. Too bad this mode doesn’t appear much in the show. =/

Last but not least, kinda sad but for the uninitialized, Thuy Trang, who played the original yellow ranger passed away in a car accident in 2001. She was 27.

*plays the flute for the Dragonzord >:D*

  2. Oh you lucky bastard! Both on having both intact megazords, having the main one, and having folks who would openly discuss Power Rangers. I was the only one that seemed to actually enjoy watching it back in the day XD. Still got my Dragonzord being displayed on my desk as I type this. Awesome stuff.

Would of been nice if that Flute actually worked, even though I don’t have it. I tried getting it when I was a spoiled kid :P.

Ah, thanks for the nostalgia~ I loved Power Rangers back in the day as well. By the time I was in middle school, I had the toys of all the zords from the Dinozords to the Shogunzords I think. Unfortunately, since I had lost interest in Power Rangers at that point, I ended up giving them all away. Now that I’m older, I kind of regret doing that as they hold great nostalgic memories for me.

I also have an autographed photo of the Yellow Ranger somewhere in my house.

    • Do you have a picture of the autographed photo of the Yellow Ranger? Same one as the one I posted?

      • Yumeka says:

Nah, it’s black and white and just has a picture of her in regular clothes rather than her Ranger outfit. It’s way up in a cabinet in my house but I’ll try to remember to take a picture of it if I can get it out one of these days.

    where’s the white ranger?
