Robin Hood

Many of you would no doubt know who Robin Hood is. An outlaw in English folklore highly skilled in bow and arrows. Best known for “robbing from the rich and giving to the poor,” aided by a group of trusty companions known as “Merry Men”.

But do you know how many movies about Robin Hood is there? A quick check online reveals a total of 12 movies (including this year’s one) in his name. Some would probably remember 1991’s “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves”, starring Kevin Costner or the funny Robin Hood: Men in Tights, a 1993 parody directed by Mel Brooks. I love that movie. ^^

In television, there’s “The New Adventures of Robin Hood” which aired in the late 90s. I watched that as well.

There’s also an anime as well. Thank you Squee for the heads up on this one.

There’s also computer games based on the character but it doesn’t seems to be very popular. I never played any of them.

Anyway, a new Robin Hood movie starring Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett and directed by Ridley Scott opens this week. Special thanks to OMY for inviting me to the preview on Monday.

Worth the watch if you are a fan of the stars and director or is a Robin Hood fan.
