Every October is known globally as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In Singapore, Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. One in 17 women develops breast cancer in her lifetime. But early detection can save your breasts and your life.
Basically there are 2 types of checks, one is self check and the other is going for mammography (x-rays to detect tumours in breasts). However, mammograms are less accurate for younger women (below 50 years old) as their breast tissues are denser.
So for young women, how do you perform self checks? Please refer to the 2 videos below for more information. (Contains nudity)
The pink ribbon lapel pin Sasara-chan is wearing above is a funds raising project from the Singapore Breast Cancer Foundation. It is available at all Watsons store and polyclinics. Just go to the counter and you will see a transparent donation box, make a $2 donation and the pin is yours. Any amount higher than $2 is most welcomed too. ^^;
