Singapore netizens received a rude shock this morning when the Ministry of Information and Censoring of the Arts (MICA) announced that they would be banning popular blog dannychoo.com effective tomorrow.
dannychoo.com, a popular web blog among young anime fans, chronicles the life of celebrity blogger Danny Choo, who hails from Britain and now resides in Tokyo with his wife. Also known as the Tokyo Dancing Stormtrooper, Danny is well known for dressing up as a Stormtrooper from the Star Wars movies and dancing on the streets of Tokyo. With an impressive monthly 20 million page views, dannychoo.com attracts readers from all around the world who actively participate in discussions. When not in armour, Danny runs his own Internet solution firm Mirai Inc as CEO.
At the official press conference held earlier today, MICA General Manager for Public Affairs, Mr Ben You, pointed out that according to statistics, one of the reasons for the country’s slow economy growth is due to 69% of the workforce spending long hours daily surfing the Internet during office hours.
“We all know that time is money. dannychoo.com was found to be the site most people go to during office hours when they should be doing work. Hours wasted on the Internet can means a delay in work, which in turn affected productivity, which ultimately will cripple the country’s economy,” explained Mr You. “We have no choice but to initiate the ban to restore administrative efficiency.”
Online forums and blogs were blazing with debates. Mr Oh Da Ku, 26, an engineer in the semi-conductor industry and frequent visitor of dannychoo.com for the past 3 years, was saddened by the news.
“I admit to visiting Danny’s blog during office hours. Reading Danny’s entertaining and motivational posts inspired me to do my best in life. I even make it a point to come to office early to get my daily dose of Danny Choo before I start work. All the health related posts also help me relax during those long hours at work,” Mr Oh said.
Miss Annie Mae, a student blogger, wrote in a recent entry on her blog: “I enjoy reading Danny’s posts about Japan’s unique culture, it’s people, happenings and watching his stormtrooper videos. Now with the ban, I guess I’ll just have to stick to second-rate sites like gordonator.com.

Actually if Sg Gahment want to ban , they shld ban Sankakucomplex instead. For obvious reasons. XD
NO~~~! Sankaku is a good place to go for fapping materials. (‘~’)
Lol. XD Gotta agree on that point…I can still survive w/o it tho (I get my “materials” from elsewhere LOL) Fanservice aside I enjoy the site for its quirky first hand news on anime/manga fandom (and other random stuffs).

LOLed @ Mr Oh Da Ku and Miss Annie Mae. They seem strangely familiar, but I’m sure I’ve never met them before.
Man. You got me. From my feed reader. Lol.
Don’t forget that Danny Choo’s site is morally bankrupt and it encourages the degradation of women, the promotion of antichrist movements and idol-worshipping.
*AWESOME FACE*
Very interesting take on the April Fool’s joke. Sadly, only after reading your article did I realise that I’ve forgotten to do something special blog wise for April Fools.

Oh noes! I can’t log on to Danny Choo, because my ISP banned it for ecchi! :O
I was like, “Woaaah, another government moronic things!”
