cool pictures, looks like the neighborhood is pretty safe with Neko around ^^ Nice comparison pictures between DSLR and digital cam. Wish DSLR’s were a little cheaper, I’d like to invest in one though.
Nice shots!! I prefer the Day shot of the city than the Night one though ^^; Knowing a good spot to take pics is always a plus in photography.

Hahaha… I’m glad you took the opportunity to explore your country/neighbourhood.
Curiosity: did you by perchance used a tripod stand for your city night shot? I could swear the largest aperture on our kit lens is f/4.0, and on an 18mm focal length, the minimum shutter exposure time should be 1/20 second before camera shake becomes too noticeable. I wonder…

the shots you take with the kit lens are amazing.
You managed to capture great lighting and good weather in the last 2 pics. Seems like your friend has taught you well.
Kit lens can produce sharp results when used properly. I prefer mine with plenty of bokeh though.
Huge difference between the dslr and the compact. I prefer your night shot, but the day one is incredible too *o*
